Give Me 5 Man: Team McBride Report
Team McBride
has just Risen The Bar !!! One Weekend, No Cup holders, No Radios And
No Wimps. 0 to 244 in 5 seconds. 5, 5 second runs One Motor !! With
many of our friends and family. At home at the Virginia Raceway Park
near Richmond, VA
Till this weekend there were trials and tribulations and all have heard
as to what our year has been like. But we venture on. And our hard work
and time spent provides nobility.
I read all the stores and heard all the tales but, I was there and it
was in living color. Man was it Great !!
It was a long weekend for Team McBride. It started out with rain on
Friday, which cancelled testing for the team. On Thursday they helped
newcomer to Top Fuel Jimmy Brantley get his new T/F bike comfortable
for him and add some tune-ups to see how Jimmy would feel about it.
He did an excellent job and rode well and was happy with how his skills
and ability are coming along with the bike. Look for him to put some
numbers on the board in the near future.
Saturday, Team McBride rolled the bike out and ran an amazing 5.882
at 239.63 to take #1 qualifier and top speed right off the trailer.
Then for the second run of the day ran a 5.94 at 241.19.
Then it was time for the family and friend fest in the hospitality suite
where all enjoyed the wonder food and refreshment done by Larry and
Steve’s family. (The Girls) And what a wonderful time it was.
If you have never been to one of these. It’s a fest fit for Kings
and Queens and I thank them for all their hard work and wonderful food.
Saturday night the sky let loose and it rained for 3 or 4 hours but
by Sunday morning about 9am the clouds parted and it looked a like a
beautiful day to go racing.
The track crews got to work with Tony Williams and removed the water
off the track and prepared the track excellently.
First round was another 5-second run. 5.895 at 235.19
Second round was a bye and another 5-second run. 5.991 at 238.26
Then came the final round with a 5.914 at 212.79
What an amazing weekend.
Roland Steward and his son Chuck serviced the bike every round with
true professionalism as they always do and the motor ran flawless.
As always Larry, Steve and Team thank all their sponsors for all their
help and support. You are the best and it shows.
